Surrounded by water – the Pacific Ocean and the Marina’s pleasure-craft waterways – and just four miles from the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Marina del Rey is just about as close to resort living as you get in the L.A. area. Built in the 1950s and 60s, the Marina today has just over 8,000 residents – and some 5,200 boat slips! The area offers seagull-view highrise condos and numerous low-rise condo buildings along The Strand in a variety of attractive architectural styles. The area is a hotel and restaurant destination and is ideal for boating, roller blading, biking and strolling. Neighboring Playa del Rey and Venice offer additional diversions – including miles and miles of wide, sandy beach, the picturesque Venice Boardwalk, the Canals, and scores of galleries, boutiques, and fabulous restaurants.
