Living the LA Condo Lifestyle

Venice

Venice, California, is best known for two features: its amusing boardwalk and its canals. The beach boardwalk (and the word walk is used loosely here), nearly private on cool weekday mornings, turns into a moving bazaar on weekends. Vendors display a variety of colorful wares and wearables, people of all stripes, and their dogs, parade beneath the palms, rollerbladers and bike riders stream along the adjacent path, and diners at sidewalk cafes line up early for tables where they can see and be seen.
Venice is cut through by a series of canals – pretty well hidden if you don’t know where they are – that are lined with homes. Once a collection of small, ‘beachy’ cottages, the homes have, over time, transformed into magnificent estates in a wide variety of architectural styles, many three or four stories high as they’ve built upward from the cottage’s original footprint.

Along with off-the-canal houses and apartments, Venice has some outstanding condominiums, including the gated lakeside townhouses of Del Rey Colony and other low-rise condo buildings within easy strolling distance of the very hip Abbot Kinney Boulevard, nearby Marina del Rey and Main Street (Santa Monica), the Boardwalk, and dozens of trendy restaurants and important art galleries.
